The TĹŤÄŤ and the Kahikatea

Presented by Aroha and Chamber Music NZ, this event features a powerful collaboration of music and poetry. The renowned New Zealand musicians—Peter Scholes (clarinet), Simeon Broom (violin), James Tennant (cello), and Katherine Austin (piano)—perform Messiaen’s iconic eight-movement quartet, composed in a WWII prisoner of war camp. Accompanied by poet Faumuina Felolini Maria Tafuna’i, whose evocative Pacifica poetry addresses the climate change crisis, the performance blends transcendent music and poignant words, reflecting on the core of human existence and the courage needed in the face of today’s global challenges. Step into the world of kapa haka with the Turner Centre's 8-week program led by Ngāti Rēhia's Rawi Pere, Crystal Harden, Denny Harden, and Daniel Kaiawe. Immerse yourself in this cultural journey exploring Poi, Haka, Choral, Action Songs, and Entry Waiata, culminating in a performance on June 25th during Matariki week where you will take the stage on front of friends and whānau. Limited to 50 spaces, participants must commit to all 10 sessions, including the final performance. Join us to strengthen community bonds and promote inclusivity through the transformative power of kapa haka.

Ans Westra – Exhibition Opening

Ans Westra: Kerikeri 2025 showcases the iconic photographer’s work for the first time in Kerikeri. Presented with {Suite}, the exhibition features 25 images from Te Tai Tokerau, alongside other well-known works. Born in the Netherlands and based in Aotearoa from 1957, Ans Westra’s candid images of New Zealand life and te ao Māori are a lasting legacy. This exhibition highlights her unique ability to capture moments of everyday life, with prints available for sale and access to her ongoing digital archive.
