Aroha Music Society presents Duo Col Legno

Yoshiko Tsuruta (Marimba), Heleen du Plessis (Cello) - This will be a thrilling and unusual performance – Heleen drawing a singing tone that weaves through the reverberations produced by Yoshiko on the largest marimba in New Zealand! In addition to well-known works by Tchaikovsky and Fauré the programme will include a new commission by revered NZ composer Gareth Farr.

She Can Code @ Kerikeri

 

Bring your own device (BYOD) and join She Can Code for a celebration of coding and tech at the Turner Centre.

At the workshop we will share stories and explore coding, robotics and computer science to inspire, challenge and discover pathways into tech.

She Can Code presents Ada Ada Ada

 

A one-woman stage performance by British creative, Zoe Philpott. The high impact show tells the story of Ada Lovelace who wrote the world’s first complex computer program in 1843 using an LED dress which she operates live on stage with her wearable tech satin glove!

A two part event She Can Code will host the workshop at the Turner Centre Auditorium.

Brigham Young University–Hawaii Concert Choir – “Voyages of Light”

“Voyages of Light” features the Brigham Young University–Hawaii Concert Choir, a premier intercultural mixed voice choir, and music that will take you on a journey across the oceans. With a varied assortment of pieces from classic choral literature, religious anthems, musical theater, and diverse cultural music, the choir boasts an exquisite experience music, culture, and light. The concert will also feature local groups including Watea Voices and Be Free Youth Bands, “Bees Are Baby Birds” and Kerikeri High School Seniors. All proceeds for this concert will be donated to Be Free Youth.

Aroha Music Society presents the Donizetti Trio

This little known combination of instruments has an attractive repertoire of music and the Auckland based trio are particularly enthusiastic about the virtuoso Italian opera fantasias from the bel canto (beautiful singing) era. Music has been re-imagined for the compact Donizetti Trio who also play works written for them by New Zealand composers; including their own bassoon player Ben. DDF End of term showcase

 

End of 8 week workshop showcase and our last show for the year after 5 years of shows being held at The Turner Centre and 11 years in business. DDFs last term here in Kerikeri – come and enjoy a full night of live entertainment performed by local talented youth from Kerikeri and Paihia (surrounding areas).
